The Enterprise Business Information Services (EBIS) Division maintains stewardship over the ever-evolving business applications portfolio supporting the Laboratory's robust and sophisticated business functions . EBIS manages and executes the full systems lifecycle across all major business functions and processes, provides technical services and solutions, and strategically partners with Laboratory communities. EBIS is undergoing a revolution in our information technology. We have begun and continue to transition to a hybrid architecture for business capabilities to respond quickly to JPLs current and future business needs. Our key organizational initiatives support the Laboratory in envisioning its future with the right set of business applications and tools, all made by possible by enabling IT professionals. Examples include migrations to cloud /SaaS, custom application delivery services, and to fully leverage JPLs on-premise ERP suite, enabled by a balanced portfolio of open source and proprietary technologies, and middle-ware platforms to make it all work!
This exciting opportunity focuses on supporting our teams and collaborating with leaders to continuously enhance JPLs business systems architecture, and the tools and technologies to support this architecture within JPLs business applications division EBIS. As the manager for the EBIS Architecture, Capabilities, Technology Office, you will lead and support a team of IT professionals in the ever-evolving cycle of surveying, adoption, and deprecation of technologies that support JPLs business applications, including Oracle E-Business Suite, other commercial off the shelf software, and custom applications. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who possesses a strong collaborative behavior, champions and successfully cultivates change in partnership with others, and continuously leads and coaches a dynamic team paving the way for EBIS to ever increase our value to the Laboratory.
In this role, you will be a member of the EBIS leadership team and will report to the EBIS division manager. You will effectively partner with the EBIS leadership team and extended IT functions at JPL in accomplishing divisional and leadership teams responsibilities. Effectively leading, coaching, and supporting your team is critical, and result in demonstrating continuous innovation in what we do and how we do it. You will be responsible for implementing a continuous program within the business domain for managing the lifecycle of technology and the overall architecture of JPLs business application portfolio, currently composed of over 100 applications. You will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and deprecating development leveraged by all teams in EBIS (e.g. application security frameworks, integration capabilities, SOA/web services, etc.) You will facilitate and maintain JPLs business systems architecture and technology roadmap, including the sustainment of JPLs enterprise resource planning capabilities. This will include strong leadership, collaboration, and management skills, creativity, tenacity, curiosity, and technical management skills. The successful candidate will excel at partnering with others through critical interpersonal skills, professionalism and self-awareness. You will be expected to communicate comfortably with all levels of staff and management with a focus on collaborating with others.
The following qualifications are required:
Typically requires a Bachelors in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field, and at least 9 years related experience; Masters with at least 7 years related experience; or PhD with at least 5 years related experience. 4 years of lead experience. Prior management experience a plus.
Exhibits strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work closely and effectively in a team-based environment.
Experience with technologies and platforms, such as linux, kubernetes, relational database management systems, etc.
Strong knowledge of cloud architecture including private and public, such as Amazon Web Services, Oracle Cloud, etc.
Knowledge of on premise or cloud ERP, such as Oracle E-BS, Oracle ERP Cloud, Workday, etc.
