Our location in Sylmar, CA, currently has an opportunity for a Software Engineer I.  

Software Engineer I responsible for developing and testing custom in-house software tools for supporting Abbott Medical CRM Products and managing the delivery of tool projects that meet customer’s needs in terms of functionalities, performance, time, and cost, reporting project progress to upper management and customers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Working from requirements, develops, maintains, and updates test requirements and design.

  • Supports implementation, creation, enhancements, and modifications for software tools applications. 

  • Supports implementation, creation, enhancements, and modifications to test cases, procedures, scripts, and code.

  • Debugs, troubleshoots, and isolates software problems and offers strategic advice regarding identified issues for future development.

  • Develops design concepts (i.e. parameters, structure, and core components)

  • Identifies critical test components.  Writes, updates, or executes test design, cases, as well as procedures and reports results.

  • Presents at design reviews, documents and resolves issues as directed.

  • Contributes to and supports reviews held by other engineers on related projects and provide useful feedback.

  • Contributes to and supports a variety of development and test phase efforts.

  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.  Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in computer science, related engineering field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • 6 months of related experience.

  • Sufficient software and hardware knowledge and experience to understand technical solution towards meeting customer’s need.

  • Ability to plan for project deliverables towards meeting schedule and cost, as well as delivering product of high quality.

  • Ability to communicate technical solutions and issues clearly and adequately to management as well as members on the project.

  • Ability to capture and analyze customer’s needs, to understand design and solution towards solutions.

  • Experience with MS Office tools. 

  • Experience in programming languages such as  C#, VB.NET

  • Experience with MS SQL Server / Oracle.

Preferred

  • Experience in creating / updating quality documents and willing to work on documentation.

  • Experience with tools such as Visual Studio, Install Aware, AccuRev, and ClearQuest.

  • Experience with Objected Oriented Analysis and Design concepts preferred.

  • Experience of operating systems such as Windows 7 /10.

  • Experience in programming languages such as  C++, VC++ and MFC preferred.

  • Experience and knowledge of software development and test process as required for medical device industry a plus.
