About this role:

The Wells Fargo Capital Finance ('WFCF') Technology Finance, Underwriting Analyst position will be responsible for underwriting and executing middle market financing transactions for software & technology companies. The Underwriting Analyst works closely with internal partners such as Originations, Portfolio Management, Independent Risk Management, and other internal partners at Wells Fargo to build strong relationships and enhance credit and economic opportunities with prospective customers.

In this role, you will:

  • Analyze a wide range of detailed information (lender presentations, management presentations, and financial statements, third party reports, etc.), identify risks/mitigants, and synthesize results into a comprehensive credit approval memorandum for senior decision makers.

    Identify critical transactional and structural risks for WFCF and propose situation appropriate structuring alternatives which best protect WFCF's interest; make sure critical issues are elevated to manager and/or Senior Underwriter.

    Coordinate the due diligence process, including third part due diligence (Quality of Earnings, background investigation reports, etc.).

    Actively participate in diligence meetings with the prospective client's executive team to develop a deeper understanding of the borrower's business and industry. Communicate key takeaways from the meeting to senior management.

    Present transactions to Independent Risk Management and senior management in a clear and concise manner with well-reasoned support.

    Partner with Senior Underwriters to negotiate with the prospective client's management (or financial sponsor) to structure and document the approved transaction.

    Review all pertinent documentation to ensure the transaction approved by Independent Risk Management is appropriately documented and critical deviations have been approved prior to execution of loan documents.

    Coordinate the funding logistics and oversee seamless onboarding of new clients; coordinate introductions and account handoff to portfolio management teams.

    Aid in the development and execution of Technology Finance and company-wide strategic initiatives, via specialized project work and/or assignment

    Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Specialty Industry Lending Underwriting experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Excellent financial modeling skills
  • Prior experience in credit, investment banking, consulting, or accounting, preferably in the software/technology sector.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and meet time sensitive deadlines.
