Skills and Experience
At POWIIS
- Teaching International GCSE and International Advanced Level courses in chemistry/physics (AQA/Edexcel) as well as general science for Year 7 to 9 students.
- Helped students to write their personal statements for their UCAS applications.
- Prepared science students for university admissions interviews.
- Organized and supported educational school trips to local attractions in Penang and mainland Malaysia.
- Gave private classes in school to help students with their understanding of science and mathematics.
- Performed weekend school duties, in which I ran activities for the boarding students.
- Held classes in philosophy and ran a chess club for after-school activities.
- Developed my teaching techniques through attending personal development sessions in POWIIS. This included detailed in-class assessment of my teaching by a fellow teacher.
At Capstone
- Taught science and mathematics in private lessons to students from Year 8 to 13 (including a student with special needs). This involved test preparation and subject enrichment.
- In-depth understanding of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, International Advanced Levels, SAT subject tests, SAT, ACT, SSAT and UK boarding school entrance examinations.
- Developed my own syllabuses for group classes in chemistry, physics, and mathematics.
- Taught a Scholars Program which was a combination of persuasive speech and critical thinking for students in small classes up to eight in size.
- Wrote my own series of Scholars lessons based around controversial topics in science.
- Helped hold a debate tournament at Capstone Hong Kong.
