Our client is looking for a Director of Finance & Accounting - West Hollywood

Summary of the Position

You will be responsible for overseeing all Finance & General Ledger Accounting functions of the company, including the financial close process, internal and external reporting, audit preparations, and continual development of policies and procedures. Assist the VP Finance & Accounting by driving the daily activities of the accounting department including managing the financial reporting process and fixed asset accounting functions.  Support operations by providing and maintaining timely financial reports, researching and responding to inquiries, and being a resource for all needs.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Finance Team, including G/L, Fixed asset accounting and Financial Reporting activities
  • Prepare weekly theater-level P&Ls for review by the Executive Team
  • Drive the month-end closing process
  • Review and post month-end journal entries
  • Prepare monthly theater-level P&Ls for review with Operations Team
  • Prepare a monthly reporting package
  • Timely consolidation and preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and debt covenant reporting requirements
  • Manage and further develop the company’s financial reporting policies and procedures with proper internal controls
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Handle all external audits including governmental, income tax, and the annual financial audit
  • Partner with the VP of Operations and Regional Directors and create efficiencies
  • Maintenance of multiple company general ledgers and related intercompany activities
  • Focus on the continuous development and growth of the capabilities and performance of the group
  • Manage General Ledger responsibilities in accordance with GAAP
  • Manage finance team staff and help develop team and best practice processes
  • Manage the fixed asset accounting process
  • Review monthly reconciliations of all general ledger accounts
  • Research and resolve theatre level inquiries
  • Drive the budgeting and forecasting process, including a 13-week rolling cash flow forecast 
  • Coordinate the annual audit process, prepare audit schedules, and respond to inquiries
  • Recommend and develop policies, procedures, reports, and systems

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • CPA license is a plus, but not required
  • 7 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Technical skills and experience in financial reporting and consolidation
  • Strong analytical skills
  • A “Team Concept” attitude, by demonstrating willingness to help others, flexibility in accepting work assignments, and a “can-do” attitude that will assist all members of the team to accomplish departmental and company goals
  • Retail industry and multi-unit experience
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP and Management Reporter a plus
  • Experience developing a staff
